We cater for children from pre-school (3 years) to sixth class. The Montessori philosophy informs the spirit of education with our youngest children. This philosophy believes in guiding and respecting the child when she says "help me do it myself". This independence is a fundamental principle throughout the school, and the girls are encouraged to think for themselves, to research and to ask questions. Curiosity is encouraged.

We follow the national curriculum but also provide weekly tuition with specialist teachers in Dance, Speech and Drama, Physical Education, Information Technology/Computers, Choir and Singing.

Extra-curricular activities: (at lunchtime and after school.) Performance theatre classes, Fit Academy, Chess tutorials, Art lessons, Craft lessons, Irish Dancing, Ballet lessons, Singing lessons, Science workshops, French Conversation, Young Entrepreneur Projects.

Individual tuition. Piano, Violin, Recorder.

We subsidise the cost of extra-curricular tuition and music lessons to enable every child to benefit from a broad and balanced curriculum provision.

We consider investment in excellent library resources and computer equipment to be money well spent.

The children are assessed annually using recognised standardised tests, and the information gained is used to develop individual learning programmes for each child.

Discipline is rarely imposed by external forces. The girls are trained to be self-disciplined from the very beginning of their time in the school. Visitors always comment on how well disciplined, confident and friendly our pupils are. The school assembly regularly focuses on care for others, and on our responsibility to protect each other. We have a very well designed system for preventing bullying in our school.

Parental involvement in school life is actively encouraged. Parents are our partners in the education of each child, and as a small school such partnership is fully realisable. There is a meeting for parents at the beginning of each academic year, formal meetings in December and March, and Open Days in November and May. Parents are encouraged to take their children into class each day so that they are confident in the high levels of academic work and care available.

Our school is underpinned by a relevant and rich spirituality. As a Catholic school liturgical celebrations are important occasions. We teach the girls to think openly about their beliefs, guiding them gently on the path of faith development. We teach them that faith demands action and so fundraising for the less privileged is an integral part of school life. The girls raise many thousands of euros each year and the older girls have an active part to play in choosing where the monies are spent.
