Credit Union Savings Scheme
In conjunction with Dundrum Credit Union, we have started a savings scheme for girls form first to sixth class.
The purpose of the School Savings Scheme is to encourage children to start saving on a regular basis from an early age.
The collection of money will be organised by the Credit Union in the school each week that the school is open, and on a day and time that is suitable to the school.
There will be no withdrawals allowed in the school, only in the Credit Union office, and the account holder if under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent.
In Notre Dame Junior School, collection day is Thursday so this is when our girls can bring in a small amount of money and save it in to their account.

The Credit Union Savings Scheme is a huge success. It teaches the children the life skills of saving money on a regular basis for a particular purpose. Notre Dame Junior School benefits from the scheme in that it can be used as part of the Maths curriculum in classes and the money earned by the school can be put to a worthwhile school project- school garden, green flagpole, IT equipment, classroom resources. The responsibility of running the scheme in the school is given to the class teachers and pupils from third class who distribute and collect the books every week. This activity gives these girls the added skills of being responsible, reliable and good mannered- very necessary life skills. The prizes donated each month and on special occasions- Christmas/Easter are a nice bonus and unexpected reward and are really appreciated. Our relationship with Pauline and the staff of Dundrum Credit Union has always been respectful, professional and good humoured.
