NOTRE DAME is:

  • A Roman Catholic Girls school that is small enough to care. Each individual child is nurtured and encouraged.
  • A school that fosters independent thinking and cultivates an atmosphere of rigorous intellectual challenge.
  • school where children are taught to question research and reflect with confidence.
  • A school where the pupils' happiness is the foundation stone. Celebration is a key aspect of school life.
  • A school where even the youngest children are exposed to the arts and the sciences.

Since 1952 the Notre Dame des Missions Sisters have maintained a high standard of excellence in the pursuit of the overall education of the young person. In recent time, the Sisters have withdrawn from education and the school is now operated by a charitable trust. Notre Dame Trust Company has entrusted the conduct, management and financial administration of the School to a Board of Management, which oversees the running of the school.

The Principal of each school is responsible for the day to day running of the school; internal organisation, management and discipline; sharing with the Board of Management the task of preserving the character of the school in accordance with the policy of the Trustees.

The School's educational programme is directed to the growth of the whole person through spiritual, intellectual, cultural and physical development with the objective of helping each student achieve her full potential. In accordance with the Mission Statement, a community spirit is fostered to cater for the needs of pupils, parents and staff.

Notre Dame, through its Junior and Senior Schools, caters for students from Montessori through to Leaving Certificate. The students progress is carefully monitored through parent / teacher meetings, consultation periods and formal reports. These structures ensure regular feedback to parents. Students participate in the running of the school through our structure of Head Girl, Deputy Head Girl and Prefects. In the Junior School even the youngest children are encouraged to participate in school life, and sixth class girls are given special responsibilities.

A Pastoral Care programme, incorporating Tutor Croups and Remedial Education, is in place to encourage each student to achieve her full potential. Class sizes in both Junior and Senior schools are small and the emphasis is on attention to and care for each individual student. The religious belief that each person is made in the image and likeness of God underpins the school philosophy and Catholic ethos.

Notre Dame is a fee paying Catholic Girls school, recognised by the Department of Education since 1953.
